How to turn that frown upside down

"The purpose of life is not just to be happy. The purpose of life my love, is to feel. You must understand that your pain, is essential."

- Christopher Poindexter

We all have nurtured negative thoughts in our lives and have experienced times when you really just don't feel that great. We're all human, it's normal.
It is extremely common to feel like you are down in the gutter about the everyday happenings of life during the winter months of the year. I am not a qualified councillor but I hope that I can at least help one person with my experience in this thing called life. As I am developing and forming into the best version of myself, I have come to realise that finding acceptance is the key to everything.
We know ignoring that voice in the back of our heads isn’t going to help us and as people, we love to ignore the very things that are bothering us.
I like to think of emotions as waves, it might sound quite strange however if you think about it - it actually makes so much sense! Allow yourself to ride through your emotions, they may be at an all time high at first, but soon enough they will decrease, consequently allowing you to then think clearly.

Here are some tips on how I lift myself up, from my heart to yours:

Let your emotions out  -

If you need to cry, cry. If you need to scream, scream. For someone who is quite prone to being emotional, I find that crying as much as I need actually helps.
Although you’ll still feel like shit after crying your heart out, a bit of the weight and worry will be lifted from your shoulders.

 Positivity is key -

Negativity can really get the better of you when you are not feeling 100% yourself. One thing that is so important is to stay positive as much as you can. Whether that means giving yourself a pep talk looking like a crazy person or jotting positive quotes down, trust me they work!
Lets not forget about the people that you surround yourself with. It is crucial to be around people who uplift you and show the door to those who bring you down and don’t wish you well.

Be kind to yourself -

Teaching yourself to be kind to you is oh so important. I don't know about you but the thought of putting someone down is horrible, so why do it to yourself? Give yourself some credit hunty!

We all need a bit of TLC -

Grab whatever you have that makes you feel good. Whether that is a facemask, some chocolate or your favourite album - I could go on for years, but you catch my drift. Giving yourself some tender loving care always does the trick when you aren't feeling like yourself.

 Watch something funny -

This might sound silly but I think laughing can actually change your mood. Find something that makes you laugh and I can guarantee you that it’ll change your mood.

hope at least one person finds these tips helpful.
