BRIGHTER DAYS

DRESS - ZARA - TRAINERS - ADIDAS - EARRINGS - DEPOP

PHOTOGRAPHY - SHANTELL PICTON

THE SUN HAS FINALLY GRACED THE UK, CAN I GET AN AMEN?! AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE PICTURES I WAS SOAKING IN ALL OF THAT VITAMIN D AND IT FELT AMAZING.

SO I GUESS I SHOULD CUT THE CRAP AND SAY HEY AGAIN GUYS, I'M BACKKKK! I'M NOT GOING TO BORE YOU OR WRITE AN ESSAY AS TO WHY I'VE BEEN GONE, BUT IN ALL HONESTY I JUST DIDN'T FEEL INSPIRED TO CREATE CONTENT. ALL IS WELL THOUGH I PROMISE! IT'S BEEN GREAT TO DISCOVER MY LOVE FOR PHOTOGRAPHY AND JUST TRY OUT NEW THINGS, SO EXPECT TO SEE ALL OF THAT INSPIRATION ON THIS PLATFORM.

BACK TO THE DELIGHTFUL WEATHER, HERE IN THE UK WE ARE FINALLY STARTING TO SEE 'BRIGHTER DAYS' AND IT'S BLOODY WONDERFUL. SUMMER IS MY ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE SEASON AND I HOPE IT'S HERE TO STAY! I LOVE WEARING DRESSES, CHILLING IN THE PARK AND BASICALLY JUST SOAKING IN ALL THAT GOODNESS.

SPEAKING OF DRESSES I ADORE THIS OFF THE SHOULDER DRESS I PURCHASED FROM ZARA A COUPLE OF MONTHS BACK. I'VE BEEN SAVING IT AND FINALLY FOUND THE PERFECT TIME TO WEAR IT. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE STATEMENT DRESSES THAT YOU CAN WEAR FROM DAY TO NIGHT AND THIS PARTICULAR DAY WAS THE PERFECT EXAMPLE. FROM CHANNELING MY INNER SOLANGE IN RICHMOND PARK TO SHAKING MY STUFF IN ISLINGTON THAT NIGHT, THIS DRESS REALLY CAME THROUGH. I CAN'T WAIT TO STYLE IT IN DIFFERENT WAYS AS I HAVE A LOT PLANNED THIS SUMMER, SO EXCITING!

WHAT ARE YOU MOST EXCITED FOR THIS SUMMER AND WHAT ARE YOUR FAVOURITE THINGS TO DO WHEN THE SUN COMES OUT?

HAPPY PLACE

PHOTOGRAPHY - JASMINE ROSE

WHERE IS YOUR HAPPY PLACE?

I LIVE IN THE CITY WHICH I BELIEVE IS EQUALLY A BLESSING AND A CURSE. IT CAN GET VERY OVERWHELMING AND CAN FEEL QUITE CLAUSTROPHOBIC AT TIMES. TRAVELLING ON THE TUBE TO CENTRAL LONDON AT 8AM IS ENOUGH TO MAKE YOU LOOSE YOUR MIND. (WE ALL KNOW THAT ONE PERSON WHO DECIDES TO TRAVEL WITH A BULKY BACKPACK, PLEASE GO HOME AND REFLECT ON YOUR BAG CHOICE)

IF YOU FOLLOW ME ON INSTAGRAM YOU PROBABLY KNOW BY NOW THAT I APPRECIATE PLANTS A LOT. I LOVE TO DISCOVER NEW GARDEN SPACES/SKY GARDENS/BOTANICAL GARDENS, GIMME THEM ALL! AS AN OVER THINKER AND EXTREME WORRIER I CAN GET INTO THE HABIT OF BEING IN MY HEAD TOO MUCH. WHENEVER I FEEL OVERWHELMED I FIND IT SO HELPFUL TO FIND A PLACE THAT ALLOWS ME TO BE DISCONNECTED FROM MY NEGATIVE THOUGHTS, I THINK IT'S SO ESSENTIAL FOR MY MENTAL STATE.

THAT'S PRECISELY WHY I ADORE OPEN GARDEN SPACES, FOR ME THEY ARE THE PERFECT REMEDY. I DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS ABOUT THEM BUT I ALWAYS FEEL SO CALM AND CONTENT WHEN I VISIT ONE. I ALMOST FEEL LIKE MY WORLD STOPS FOR A SHORT MOMENT - I'M ABLE TO REGAIN MY THOUGHT'S AND FOCUS ON WHAT'S MOST IMPORTANT. IT'S ALSO A BRILLIANT SPACE FOR ME TO REFLECT ON MY CREATIVE THOUGHT'S AND IS ULTIMATELY MY HAPPY PLACE

SO WHERE IS YOUR HAPPY PLACE? I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW IF YOU HAVE A FAVORITE SPOT THAT MAKES YOU FEEL CALM AND COLLECTED WHEN LIFE GETS A LITTLE CRAY.

I WANNA BE DOWN

I WAS ONCE CALLED A CHAMELEON. EXPERIMENTATION IS FUN, WHY STICK TO ONE LOOK WHEN YOU CAN PLAY AROUND WITH SO MANY?

PHOTOGRAPHY - VISUAL'S BY ESTHER

STYLING THE 90'S DENIM WAISTCOAT

INSPIRED BY BRANDY - I WANNA BE DOWN. (SUCH A TUNE, RIGHT?)

THE MUSIC VIDEO SCREAMS 90'S FASHION & I'M SURE WE ALL REMEMBER THE DENIM WAISTCOAT THAT BRANDY STYLED BEAUTIFULLY IN THE VIDEO.

I'VE ALWAYS BEEN A LOVER OF 90'S FASHION AS YOU CAN PROBABLY TELL FROM MY PREVIOUS LOOKS. ALTHOUGH I GO THROUGH SO MANY PHASES, IT'S A STYLE I WILL ALWAYS COME BACK TO.

STYLING THIS WAISTCOAT WAS SUCH A FUN EXPERIENCE, AS FASHION TO ME IS ALL ABOUT EXPERIMENTATION. PLAY AROUND WITH DIFFERENT LOOKS AND SEE WHAT YOU CAN COME UP WITH. AN OUTFIT CAN SHOWCASE SO MANY DIFFERENT THINGS & FOR ME THAT'S WHY I ABSOLUTELY LOVE STYLING.

I PAIRED THE WAISTCOAT WITH A PLAYFUL SKIRT, A 90'S INSPIRED TURTLE NECK & RETRO TRAINERS, WHICH I THINK ALL COMPLIMENTED THE DENIM PIECE SO PERFECTLY. I FELT LIKE A 5 YEAR OLD AGAIN IN THIS OUTFIT AND ALL I WANTED TO DO WAS RUN UP AND DOWN ALL DAY.

I ABSOLUTELY ADORE THE 'PROJECT BABE' DETAILING ON THE BACK OF THE JACKET. IT MAKES ME FEEL EMPOWERED WITH A SLIGHTLY FUNKY ATTITUDE.

WHAT INSPIRES THE CREATION OF YOUR OUTFITS? I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW.

DO YOU CONNECT MOVING IMAGES WITH YOUR CREATIONS LIKE ME, OR ARE YOU INFLUENCED BY OTHER ELEMENTS?

COLLABORATION

Headwrap - Thailand - Mesh Hoodie - Ivy Park - Skirt - Bershka
Puffer Jacket - Primark - Trainers - H&M - Earrings - H&M

Something a little different on the blog today! I met with the lovely Fatou - who grams at theafrounicorn last week for a shoot. We took pictures of each other and then jumped in front of the camera for a joint shot (as you can tell we had a whale of a time :P). It was such a fun and unique experience! I must say we did a damn good job at taking photo's too (may have to start taking bookings soon!)

I absolutely love collaborating - whether that be with bloggers, photographers, designers etc.
I love meeting new people and it's so inspiring to be surrounded by creatives. You're really able to share ideas and bounce off each other and I can guarantee you, you'll probably learn something new about your craft or theirs!

I remember a couple of years back I used to be so scared about meeting new people within the creative field, so many thoughts would race through my head. Will they like me? What if they think I'm weird? I haven't been blogging for that long, what if they think that's a hinderance? I literally had to tell myself to shut up and realised that I was being so silly! Every creative has started from somewhere and as I said before the beauty about meeting creative people is you will probably learn something new. So if you have been given the opportunity to collaborate or you want to reach out to new people, just do it!

What's your favourite thing about meeting new people?

INSPIRATION

Khaki Raincoat - Monki - Denim Skirt - Miss Selfridge - Vintage Shirt - Debenhams
Earrings - Mango - Thigh High Boots - La Moda - Fishnet Tights - Primark

Inspired by one particular look from the Michael Kors Fall 2017 NYFW show I opted for my stylish yet efficient maxi raincoat, paired with a vintage shirt and a faded denim skirt. In my mind I was walking a runway (lewl, joke) but on a serious note this outfit made me feel so confident, I definitely think the thigh high boots had something to do with that.

There were so many B O L D and gorgeous looks at fashion week this year - from street style to catwalk, I was literally obsessed! Browsing various images has definitely given me a lot of inspiration for future outfits.

Have you been keeping up with FW? I'd love to hear about your favourite looks!

Yet another all black outfit...what can I say? One word, winter. I based my outfit around my beret, which I must say makes me feel chic as hell! It's such a staple piece which I think can make any outfit pop! I must admit, at first, I didn't think it would suit me or fit on my curly head for that matter (let's face it, curly girls have a HARD time finding hats to fit on all that hair) but I'm glad I tried it. Fashion is all about experimentation at the end of the day and that's what I love about it the most. Try something new and be creative with it, fashion is all about having fun! So go ahead girl, slay queen!

I've always wanted my blog to be an honest space and that's why I am here to tell you that sometimes it's hard to purchase clothes every month. As a blogger I feel that there's a constant need to always keep up with the trends and have the hottest new stuff, but you know what? It's bloody hard and requires a lot of money!

I feel that last year I fell into the habit of buying clothes just for the sake of it. Fast forward to a couple of months later and you have a room full of clothes that you haven't worn and all they are doing really and truthfully, is collecting dust. So I decided to change my shopping habits and actually realised that you know what? There are so many ways to rewear your old clothing items.

This leads me onto my outfit of the day because guess what? Only two items, I repeat two items were new purchases but damn cheap purchases I can tell ya that! Clap for a sister. The rest of the outfit was purchased months, even years back because trends come back around.

My look was inspired by the 80's of course (I'm a sucker for it) and started from the gorgeous jewellery pieces featured which were my Nan's in the 80's. I've never considered wearing black and white on a regular basis but at the moment I am loving the combo! I think the weather has a huge part to play in this decision as the cold temperatures always make me think of dark colours. I love this beret as it's such a classic look and would you believe it was only £2! I paired my velvet shirt with my wide leg trousers, red snakeskin boots for a pop of colour and topped off with a dogtooth coat - a classic and comfortable look.

Following on from my initial confession don't always feel you have to buy clothes to stay current because most of the time it really is such a waste of money. If you do want an alternative to the 'high' prices of the high street then try visiting a vintage shop or even look in your older relatives wardrobes (ask their permission first of course ;) because I can guarantee you will find a gem.
